An ovarian cyst is a fluid-filled sac. Ovarian cysts form in or on the ovaries. The most common types of ovarian cysts are considered functional, in other words they have nothing to do with disease. The different types of cysts are listed below.
• Follicular cysts form when the egg in the follicle sac (which is located in the ovary) doesn't break open to release the egg into the fallopian tube, and the sac keeps growing. This type of cysts will usually go away in 1to3 months.
• Corpus luteum cysts form when the follicle sac doesn't dissolve after releasing the egg and seals up. Then fluid builds up inside. These cysts can grow to almost 4 inches, but usually go away in a few weeks. These cysts can cause pain, but are rarely cancerous. Some drugs used to cause ovulation can increase the risk of getting these cysts.
• Endometriomas cysts form in women who have endometriosis. This problem occurs when tissue that looks and acts like the lining of the uterus grows outside the uterus. The tissue may attach to the ovary and form a growth. These cysts can be painful during sex and during your period.
• Cystadenomas cysts form from cells on the outer surface of the ovary. They are often filled with a thin watery fluid or thick sticky gel and have the potential to become very large. This growth affects women between 30 and 50 years old.
• Dermoid cysts have been known to contain structures such as hair, bone and teeth. They can cause torsion (when the cyst becomes twisted)
• Hemorrhagic cysts occurs when bleeding occurs within the cyst. Abdominal pain on one side of the body may be present with type of cyst
The surgical removal of ovarian cysts may only be a temporary solution; they can come back again in the future if you don't make some lifestyle changes. Ovarian cysts are quite common. ReplyDeleteHey Gina, I saw your comment about Dr. Onokun medication concerning Fibroid sometime ago and you were right, I tried it and it worked like magic for me.
